How Should a Counter Team Run a Crypto QR Sale From Scan to Handover?

A practical in-store routine for crypto QR sales: who creates the request, what the customer does, and the one status your team should see before goods change hands.

How Should a Counter Team Run a Crypto QR Sale From Scan to Handover?

A merchant's question we hear often: what is the simplest way to run a crypto QR sale at the counter without confusion? The short answer is to give every sale one request, one visible status and one rule for releasing goods.

Start with one request per sale

MiraclePay describes its in-person flow in four steps: create an order, display the QR, the customer completes payment, and staff receive confirmation. The cashier should always build the request for the exact basket before showing anything to the customer. Reusing an old screen or editing the total afterwards breaks the link between the sale and the payment.

Guide the customer, then watch the status

According to MiraclePay, the customer scans the code with their own wallet and sends the exact amount on the network shown. Train cashiers to say that plainly: scan, check the amount and network, then send. Wallet compatibility depends on the customer's wallet supporting the asset and network in the request, so staff should not promise that every wallet will work.

The cashier then watches the payment state on the merchant side. A customer showing a sent-payment screen on their phone is not the same as a confirmed sale in your system. Our rule is simple: goods are handed over only after the cashier sees the confirmed state.

Keep the same reference for reporting

MiraclePay says the same reference can follow the transaction into reporting, which keeps a fast counter interaction from turning into manual reconciliation later. Ask staff to note that reference on any exception, such as a customer who paid the wrong amount or left before confirmation, so the back office can trace it.

How other providers frame in-store crypto

OpenNode also positions in-person acceptance around payment requests shown on any internet-connected device, aimed at retail and events. The shared idea across providers is that the counter device creates a request, and the shop acts on the result. Whichever provider you use, rehearse the routine with staff before opening day.

A short checklist for the till

Create the request for the exact sale. Show the QR and state the amount. Wait for the confirmed status. Only then bag the goods. Escalate anything unclear to a manager instead of guessing. Check current eligibility, fees and settlement terms on MiraclePay's official pages before launch.

Before enabling live payments, confirm merchant transaction fees for your account configuration.
